Aphrodisiac

A drug that excites sexual passion. Examples include certain roots (mandrake, ginseng, licorice), barks (yohimbine), foods (oysters, fennel), hormones (testosterone), tonics made from such substances as sarsaparilla, hops or asafoetida and perfumes. Claims fir these substances and scores of others have never been scientifically established, but it is probable that suggestion plays a major part when they appear to have an effect.
