The appeal of one person for another based on such factors as physical appearance, sexual characteristics, intelligence, understanding, social qualities, or any other characteristics that arouse interest or admiration, or satisfy the individual's special needs. Some people are attracted to frail, dependent ineffectual individuals who need guidence or mothering; others, to strong, decisive persons who can stand on their own two feet. Also, some people are attracted to superficial charm, others to quiet sincerity.
