Bridal Night

First night a married couple spend together after the wedding, when anticipation is high and the afterglow of the wedding celebration is still having its effect. Studies show, however, that unless the couple have been living together (which is increasingly the case), the sexual relationship may be disappointing for one or both partners, and a period of adjustment may be required.

Bridal sheets: A term referring to the archaic practice of publicly displaying bloodstained bedsheets on the day after the consummation of marriage, as proof of the bride's premarital virginity.
