Ambuguous genitalia: A congenital birth defect of the genitalia in which development from the embryonic undifferentiated state into a clear and unambiguous male or female sexual anatomy is either incomplete or mixed at birth so that gender cannot be assigned with certainty based solely on visual examination of the genitals.
