Priapism

Persistent penile erection, often painful and usually unaccompanied by sexual desire.

The condition is rare and has nothing to do with virility. The cause is either unknown, or the condition may be associated with a disorder such as leukaemia, sickle cell anaemia, tumour, or infection. The term is also used as a synonym for satyriasis, and is derived from the name of the Greek and Roman god of procreation, Priapus.
