Albert Moll

(1862-1939)

Albert Moll

A German physician, a contemporary of Sigmund Freud.

Albert Moll was the first to engage in a scientific study of sexual development of children adn adolescents. Unlike Freud, who created a new theory of infantile and childhood sexuality, Moll worked within the confines of the doctrines of his day, deferring to the degeneracy theory and antimasturbatory biases of the day. His work focused more on sexological pathology and criminology than on the normal.
