Harry Benjamin

A physician, endoctrinologist, and geriatric specialist.

Harry Benjamin was the first to recognize the phenomenon of transsexualism, a term he coined to distinguish this condition from homosexuality and transvestitism. He also pioneered sex change surgery.

Harry Benjamin was born, raised ad educated in Germany. He moved to the United States in 1931, when he was 46 years old.
