(1840–1902)
Richard Freiherr von Krafft-Ebing, a German psyhiatrist, is often considered the founder of modern sexology.
He undertook a detailed classification of sexual disorders. Much of his attention was devoted to aspects of sexuality he considered abnormal, such as sadomasochism, homosexuality, fetishism, and bestiality.
His major work, Psycopathia Sexualis (1886), influenced subsequent public attitudes and medical and legal practice for more than 75 years.
